Kelowna Carpet One Floor & Home

Kelowna Carpet One is a small flooring store located at 1788 Baron Road in Kelowna, BC. The store had purchased a website from a large development firm in Calgary for a substantial amount of money. It was obvious within the course of the first year that the website was simply not effective. Despite having what the firm called a proprietary content management system (which simply means the website files would not run on any other server) it was very difficult to organize or update regularly. Thus, it was difficult for potential customers to find the content they were looking for. It also had very poor tracking, which made it difficult if not impossible for the management to ascertain the success of their online advertising.

I created the new Kelowna Carpet One website with PHP, XHTML, jQuery, and CSS. It was designed and written with high-end flooring customers in mind. An elegant and easy-to-navigate appearance reflects the image that Kelowna Carpet One stands for. Google Analytics allows management to monitor visitor traffic and the success of the store's online advertising. The website has received thousands of unique visitors in its first month and customer inquiries (leads) are appearing in the store's email daily. Each month we update the website to reflect the store's print, television, and radio advertising and improve content in the areas of the website driving the most traffic and feedback.

Play Days Family Daycare

Play Days Family Daycare is a brand new, home-based daycare that is starting up in West Kelowna, BC. Without an established reputation in the neighbourhood, Play Days needed a way to find clients and provide important information to parents about the daycare's policies and procedures. Although it is simple by design, the website demonstrates the daycare's commitment to professionalism--something every parent values in a daycare service.

As the website grows, parents will be able to log into a secure area of the website and access all of the necessary forms and documentation. The addition of a multiple camera security system will allow parents to watch real time video of their children playing from their office or smart phone.
